One thing I like about the Walther PPS M2 is that it is easy to conceal, thanks to its small size. When looking for a new holster that will fit my PPS M2, I will generally look at concealed carry options and maybe a comfortable Inside-The-Waistband (IWB) holster options. I will skip looking at shoulder holsters or drop-leg holsters.

The reason I chose the AlienGear ShapeShift holster is my top choice, is the fact that it offers a lot! You can adjust the cant and retention, it supports other weapons, it is very durable thank to its polymer construction, and it provides a nice secure fit for your weapon.

Some things that I did not like about it is how bulky it can be, it is not the best looking holster (compared to the DeSantis leather holster I cover further down), and can be tricky to get setup initially.

Overall, I think it is a great holster that offers good value for money.

DeSantis Speed Scabbard Holster

⭐️ Verdict: Best Looking Holster!

The DeSantis Speed Scabbard Holster is a choice worth considering if you’re in the market for something a bit more on the traditional side. Designed for those who prefer leather over synthetic materials, it offers a classic look and feel. This holster is all about balancing accessibility with security, aiming to make drawing your firearm smooth and re-holstering it just as easy.

One of the notable features of the Speed Scabbard is its lack of a thumb break. While this might raise an eyebrow if you’re used to more secure fastenings, it actually allows for a quicker draw. However, it still maintains a decent level of retention, so you don’t have to worry too much about your firearm slipping out.

The holster attaches to your belt through two slots, providing a stable and snug fit against your body. This design also aids in keeping the holster from shifting around when you’re on the move. Plus, it’s designed to hold the gun at a slight forward cant, which many find to be a comfortable angle for both drawing and carrying.

In terms of construction, it’s pretty solid. The leather is of good quality, and it seems like it would age well, developing that unique patina leather goods are known for. However, being leather, it might require a break-in period to get that perfect fit for your firearm.

Overall, the DeSantis Speed Scabbard Holster seems like a good pick if you’re a fan of leather holsters and are looking for a balance between easy access and security.

Pros

Concealment Express IWB Holster

⭐️ Verdict: Best For Concealed Carry

The Concealment Express IWB Holster is a modern, minimalist option for those looking to carry their firearm inside the waistband. Known for its sleek and simple design, it’s a popular choice for everyday carry, especially if you’re after something that won’t draw too much attention.

This holster is made from Kydex, which is a big plus for durability and maintaining its shape over time. The material is tough, but also lightweight, so it’s not going to feel like a burden when you’re carrying it all day. Plus, the smooth finish of Kydex makes it comfortable against the skin, which is a nice touch for an IWB holster.

One of the standout features is its adjustable retention. This means you can tweak how tightly the holster grips your firearm, giving you control over the draw resistance. It’s pretty straightforward to adjust, so you can easily find your sweet spot.

Another thing you might appreciate is its ‘click’ sound when the gun is fully holstered. It’s a subtle detail, but it gives a reassuring indication that your firearm is securely in place. And, for added customization, the cant (angle) and ride height are adjustable, letting you position the holster just how you like it.

In summary, the Concealment Express IWB Holster seems like a solid, no-nonsense choice for those who value functionality, comfort, and a bit of personalization in their carry setup.

How we test & score products

What to Look For in Holsters

When looking for a holster (and specifically a holster for the PPS M2) I consider the following factors (some factors carry more weight than others in my consideration of the holster):

  1. Comfort (Weight: 20%) – How comfortable is it to wear the holster – can I wear it for an extended period of time without any problems.
  2. Durability (Weight: 15%) – I want a holster that can last. If it is not durable from everyday carry, I do not want to spend my hard earned money on it.
  3. Concealment (Weight: 15%) – The PPS M2 is meant for concealed carry – how well can the holster keep my weapon concealed.
  4. Ease of Draw and Re-holstering (Weight: 15%) – How easy is it to draw my weapon and re-holster it.
  5. Retention (Weight: 10%) – How secure does my weapon stay when holstered.
  6. Adaptability (Weight: 10%) – Is the holster suited only for a specific gun, or can other guns also be carried using the holster.
  7. Price Value (Weight: 10%) – Simply put, do I get value for the money I pay for the holster.
  8. Aesthetic Design (Weight: 5%) – Not super important for me, but does the holster at least look nice enough to be able to wear it in public.
